Puma Suede “Tommie Smith”
March 3rd, 2008
Even though Black History month had just passed by, Puma has decided to pay tribute to great historic African-American athletes. This August, Puma will release two Suede models which are dedicated to honoring Tommie Smith who won the 200m race in a record breaking time. The sneaker will be available in a red or black color-way and will have the famous closed fist printed all over the sneaker to represent the struggle in the Black Power Movement. It will also have Tommie Smith’s name printed on the tongue along with the number 68 representing 1968, the year which he took home the gold medal. Info via Streething.
